Description
Geneviève Besnier has been a puppeteer since 2004. She designs and builds her own puppets. As an actor and performer, she has worked with several companies (Théâtre sans fil, La Nef, Cirque du Soleil, Soma). She perfected her physical acting skills with Dynamo Théâtre (1998-2001). Geneviève is also a singer: she has taken part in various productions in Asia and the United States. Since 1998, she has been teaching circus, theatre and puppetry. She has significant experience with Arts nomades at Cirque du Soleil and La Tohu. Since 2013, as a teaching artist, she has participated in Quebec Ministère de l’éducation’s cultural mediation programs Une École montréalaise pour tous and Culture à l’école. Geneviève also teaches theatrical theory and practice at college level, at Cégep de Saint-Laurent and Collège Lionel-Groulx. She holds a B.A. and an M.A. in theatre (UQAM, 2001 and 2016). Her favourite themes are art intersection, theatre for young audiences and the integration of music and song into the language of puppetry.
