The board of directors, consisting of seven members elected at the Annual General Meeting, governs the association. In November 2002, a part-time general coordinator position was created thanks to operating cost funding from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. In 2017, the positions of Continuing Education Officer and Communications and Member Services Officer were established, also on a part-time basis.
Working committees are tasked with delivering specific projects, and the high level of volunteer commitment from members provides these committees with the vitality they need. The AQM is represented on the Conseil québécois du théâtre (CQT) and at Compétence Culture, where it can contribute to important current debates, ensure that members’ views are brought to the table, help design continuing professional development programs, and act as the representative body for the puppetry profession in Québec.
Every year, the AQM organizes a range of activities focused on the development of the discipline: workshops, professional development opportunities, informal gatherings, and a variety of publications, to name a few. It also acts as a mobilizing agent by coordinating its members’ participation in innovative projects.
