Eligibility:
Candidates must be eligible for the DémART-Mtl program:
- Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Be of cultural diversity (ethnocultural or visible minorities).
- Be an immigrant, a newcomer, or first-generation.
- Be self-employed (practicing art independently) according to the laws regarding artist status and employment conditions in Quebec.
- Reside on the island of Montreal.

The Association québécoise des marionnettistes (AQM)
Founded in 1981, the AQM was established by puppeteers aiming to create an organization dedicated to the recognition and development of puppetry arts in Quebec. Since the fall of 2018, it has been based at the Maison internationale des arts de la marionnette (MIAM) and participates in the management of this venue as a co-founder alongside Casteliers, a theater presenter specializing in puppetry arts. The AQM is setting up a digital portal, marionNET.ca, aimed at increasing the visibility of artists and works. This cultural mediation tool enhances the web presence of puppetry and ensures the preservation of a multifaceted heritage by fostering synergy between heritage institutions, creative artists, and researchers.
Internship Description
The Association québécoise des marionnettistes is developing a portal for puppetry arts, marionNET.ca. This tool requires active involvement from members and contributors to thoroughly document their professional activities, shows, and works/objects or artifacts. The internship’s goal is to assist users of marionNET.ca and the AQM website to encourage widespread adoption of these new tools and enrich the database of puppetry arts in Quebec.
Tasks include:
- Familiarizing oneself with the data model and online capture tools.
- Actively reaching out to AQM members and contributors.
- Assisting members in preparing content for the capture tool.
- Providing technical and strategic support to members and contributors at all project stages.
The Member Services Assistant will work under the supervision of the AQM’s Communications and Member Services Manager.
Desired Knowledge and Skills:
- Good understanding of issues in performing arts.
- Functional proficiency in French and English, an asset.
- Relevant university education, an asset.
- Essential qualities: curiosity and initiative.
