About
As the doors open, you are welcomed into what appears to be a cheap snack bar. A glowing menu offers fries and onion rings — you can almost smell the burnt oil in the air. Through the haze of smoke, you glimpse vegetables the size of a two-year-old child. Suddenly, it’s time! You’re invited to take your seat as the head chef, Mr. Big Nose, greets you. So far, everything seems ordinary.
Until Hubert, the clumsy cook who was supposed to serve you, starts flirting with a potato at a club. Back in the kitchen, he can no longer look at vegetables the same way. And that’s when the magic happens. The vegetables come to life and dance seductively. A broccoli performs pole dance. A sweet potato slowly undresses… Everything in Un Cabaret Légume turns up the heat.
Un Cabaret Légume is a theatrical production with puppetry (but not only puppetry), telling stories of love — and sex — in a greasy-spoon kitchen. Through burlesque numbers that call for cheers and audience choices, spectators are invited to participate and directly influence the unfolding of the story.
Horror film or naughty comedy? The audience decides.
Driven by absurdity and humor, the show playfully tackles themes such as non-monogamous relationships, toxic masculinity, consent, and sexual diversity. All of it is filtered through the company’s sharp feminist lens.
Agathe the potato falls into a romance with the cook. Sylvie the sweet potato embarks on an unexpected passion with Anne-Henri the broccoli. Simon the onion, in search of virility, multiplies his attempts at conquest, while Marie bok choy firmly rejects his advances. These colorful, mischievous storylines open a playful yet thoughtful reflection on romantic and social norms.
