Dance of the Shadows is a 45-minute artistic and poetic performance, without words, featuring sand drawing transmitted live via video projector. To the rhythm of the music, Catherine creates ephemeral paintings in the sand in front of the audience, on a light table, while her creations come to life on a screen. This artistic fusion transports spectators into a magical universe.
Synopsis: Ballet of Shadows is an ode to love and freedom. It all begins when a flutist plays a few musical notes, her melody plunging us into a long dream. In this dreamlike and imaginary universe, the real, the unreal, memories and desires intertwine.
In a world of technology and performance where everything moves quickly, Ballet of Shadows invites us to return to essence and to contemplation, with a beautiful mix of classical music, tango and opera. The use of sand as a medium allows a perpetual transformation of the images live, creating an effect of surprise among the audience, who remains captivated from start to finish. Sand theatre lives in the present moment. It has a random and ephemeral touch: each drawing is unique and differs from one representation to another. The sand gives an impression of fragility and a particular grain to the image, which makes this art all the more expressive.
Catherine seeks beauty and poetry in everything. Through the shadows and lights created by the sand on the light table, she takes the audience into a dreamlike and enchanting world where stories take shape. The spectator witnesses the creation of paintings live, in perpetual transformation. The unique fusion between music and sand drawing allows the spectators to experience a magical feeling, regardless of their age, and to immerse themselves into a fascinating universe.
